I am a trained lawyer and linguist, who decided to follow her passion for translation and founded a professional translation studio based near Gdynia, Poland. I provide comprehensive linguistic services in the English-Polish language pair, including translation, interpretation, proofreading and editing, localisation, transcreation and linguistic consultation.
My one-of-a-kind individual programme of full-time studies comprising 3-year English Major and 5-year Master of Laws resulted in my full proficiency in English followed by perfect understanding of law and legal language. My in-depth knowledge, along with years of comprehensive training in the legal and translation industry aids me in translating texts from almost all areas of law.
Moreover, my academic background and extensive hands-on experience gained in Poland and abroad (studies in Germany, internships in the UK and Belgium) let me view translated documents from a global perspective and easily solve linguistic problems arising from certain incompatibilities between legal systems.
As a law and legal English geek, I specialise in legal translations. Over my several years of experience, however, I have developed some other areas of expertise, including medical translation.
Throughout my career, I have also translated hundreds of pages of official and corporate documents, pharmaceutical documentation, business letters, academic publishing, specialist (including technical) texts and marketing and advertising content. I render services of localisation of websites and computer games on a regular basis.
I am a truly committed and comprehensively trained translator with a proven ability to deliver timely and high-profile translation services from and into English and Polish. I am a truly committed and comprehensively trained translator with a proven ability to deliver timely and high-profile translation services from and into English and Polish. My rates start from PLN 35 per page (1800 characters with spaces) or PLN 90 per hour of interpretation. I am based near Gdynia, Poland, but I work with my Clients from all over the world. Apart from legal and medical translation I specialise in, I regularly translate official and corporate documents, pharmaceutical documentation, business letters, academic publishing, specialist (including technical) texts and marketing and advertising content.
Legal translation in the English-Polish language pair presents certain difficulties arising from the incompatibility of legal systems (continental law in Poland and common law in English-speaking countries). As a trained lawyer, I am fully aware of the incongruity of legal terminology and understand the importance of precision in legal translation. Translating legal documents for my Clients, I always strive to make a precise a legal point even when some legal expressions in the source language have no one-for-one equivalent in the target language.
Translation of medical content requires a great deal of meticulousness and versatile linguistic education, i.e. the knowledge of Latin. Due to the life and death nature of medical translation, I utilise all possible means to ensure the high quality and accuracy of my work. Having established cooperation with a network of medical consultants, including a doctor, a psychologist and a cosmetologist, I discuss any subject-matter or linguistic doubts with them. Therefore, I can guarantee the accuracy of my translation work and faithful recreation of the medical slang used by medical professionals.
As a translator, I place great emphasis on grammatical and stylistic correctness of my work, its precision and accuracy. I utilise those linguistic skills to offer my Clients proofreading and editing services in my two working languages. Proofreading consists in the identification and correction of spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes and typos. Editing requires me to go one step further, as it involves not only the thorough proofreading of the text, but also the verification of its logical and stylistic coherence and even the substantive correctness. In the process of editing, I eliminate possible grammatical errors and make sure that the message is correct and clear.
Localisation refers to the translation and cultural adaptation of software, video games and websites. The process of localisation involves not only direct language translation, but also a comprehensive study of the target culture to correctly adapt the product to a particular locale. I am fully aware that localisation projects require me to go one step further than employing my linguistic skills and to take into account all factors that might influence the intended audience. Not only do I strive to ensure that the terminology is accurate and focused specifically for the target region, but also to help your product enter the Polish market by merging into its real needs.
Transcreation, often defined as creative translation, is typically used for the translation of marketing and advertising material. Transcreative adaptation is about taking a concept in one language and completely recreating it in that of the targeted audience. In the process of transcreation, I do not mechanically rewrite a piece from one language into another. I always strive to carry the meaning of the message created in the British, American or Australian linguistic and cultural environment in such a way that it resonates with the Polish audience. Open-mindedness and individual approach enable me to complete transcreative projects tailored to my Clients’ needs.
